Ethical Sourcing & Stewardship

Sustainability: Built Through Partnership

For Liban Bean, sustainability is never a marketing label. It is the fundamental economic and ecological reality that ensures coffee farming remains an attractive, dignified, and prosperous livelihood for smallholder farming families across Kenya and Uganda.

Fair Farmer Economics

We contract direct-purchase agreements with premiums paid above prevailing local market rates for ripe cherry delivery. By providing clear financial incentive for quality, smallholders directly benefit from higher cupping scores.

Water & Mill Ecology

Processing mills in our network utilize recirculation systems and bio-filtration soak-away pits, eliminating untreated wastewater runoff into native river ecosystems. Drying beds are engineered to harness 100% natural solar energy.

Youth in Agriculture

The average age of coffee farmers is rising worldwide. We sponsor agronomy and cupping workshops for the next generation of rural youth, equipping them with professional skills in quality control, pruning techniques, and climate-resilient farming.

Regenerative Agroforestry

Preserving Indigenous Forest Canopies

East African coffee trees thrive best under shade canopies. Sourcing from natural forest systems in Kaffa, Guji, and Mount Elgon preserves local bird biodiversity, stabilizes topsoil against seasonal erosion, and slows cherry maturation for denser, sweeter beans.
